Robbins Russell partners Ariel Lavinbuk, Matthew Madden, and William Trunk were named to Benchmark Litigation’s “40 & Under Hot List.” Benchmark Litigation recognized Ariel, Matt, and Bill as being “among the top young talent” who “frequently handle major cases—some of which are high-stakes or precedent-setting.”
Lavinbuk, Benchmark Litigation recognized, “has been involved in a variety of bankruptcy and commercial disputes,” including successfully defending Sony against a $340 million unjust enrichment lawsuit and successfully defending McKinsey & Co. professionals and affiliates from RICO claims alleging fraud in more than a dozen bankruptcy cases.
Madden, the publication continued, “is known for his securities and complex trial experience” and “also handles appeals and has argued before the US Supreme Court.” Recently, Madden handled a major accounting firm’s dispute with a former client, and continues to represent companies and their officers and directors in securities and derivative cases “each with hundreds of millions of dollars at stake.”
Trunk “has experience representing plaintiffs and defendants in commercial, securities and bankruptcy disputes,” according to Benchmark. The publication noted, in particular, his representation of a hedge fund in “securing a $315 million money judgment in a bet-the-company dispute.” On the defense side, moreover, Benchmark Litigation recognized Trunk’s work to obtain “dismissal of claims seeking damages of over $2 billion in a breach of fiduciary duty lawsuit” against an investment fund’s former directors.
