D.C. Circuit Affirms Robbins Russell’s Victory For Sony Interactive Entertainment in $340 Million PlayStation Dispute

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit today affirmed in all respects the dismissal, by U.S. District Judge Randolph Moss, of claims against Robbins Russell client Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE).  Plaintiff Vitaly Pilkin originally sued SIE for $340 million in November 2017, alleging that it was unjustly enriched by actions that purportedly undermined Russian intellectual property that Pilkin claimed as his own.  Robbins Russell partners Phil Sechler and Ariel Lavinbuk successfully secured dismissal of Pilkin’s claim in 2019, and they were joined by associate Jeff Thalhofer in successfully defending that dismissal before the D.C. Circuit.
